Technical Assistant

3D Scanning/Software Development/Data Analysis

GBG is looking for individuals with a range of technical skills to assist in the collection, manipulation and interpretation of data, primarily from terrestrial laser scanning and photogrammetric surveys, and secondarily from acoustic, seismic, electromagnetic and gravimetric sources.

Successful applicants will be willing to travel throughout the UK and overseas, will have excellent computer literacy and skills/interest in or related to a number of the following fields:

  • Computer Programming (VB.NET advantageous)
  • Photography
  • Surveying and Photogrammetry
  • 3D Scanning
  • Software packages such as AutoCAD, Blender, Photoshop

The role will involve:

  • Working predominantly from our UK Cambridge office
  • Visiting sites to collect data (photographs, laser scans, measurements etc)
  • Processing data to generate deliverables such as orthophotos, 3d models, visualisations (e.g. coloured contour plots)
  • Identifying potential improvements to existing workflows, particularly through computer automation
  • Developing new and existing products and techniques
  • Supervision and training
