Corrosion surveys can be completed in many ways. From a simple visual inspection and direct measurement of a structure to the use of resistivity to establish the potential for corrosion within reinforced concrete. By using half-cell or magnetic mass investigation techniques it is possible to establish the level of corrosion or corrosion potential within reinforced concrete without the need for exposure of the steel.
In some cases, NDT techniques are not appropriate to establish the required data and exposure of the members is then required. This allows for direct measurement of section loss/dimensions and, to reduce the amount of concrete removed, these measurements can be supplemented with NDT tools such as UTG (ultrasonic thickness gauge).
GBG investigates a wide range of structures from historically significant buildings to small private residences.
